HDR (Radiance RGBE) files store high dynamic range lighting data used in 3D rendering, game development, and photography. Most apps can't open .hdr files directly. PixelForge converts HDR images to standard formats instantly in your browser — free, no login required.
HDR (Radiance High Dynamic Range) is an image format developed by Greg Ward using the RGBE encoding scheme. It stores floating-point luminance values per pixel, allowing a much wider brightness range than standard 8-bit formats. HDR files are widely used as environment maps (HDRI) for 3D rendering, global illumination, and image-based lighting in software like Blender, Maya, and game engines.
